Best Gas Price Around

Sadly, this was in the early 1950s. This old gas pump was used in an old Roswell gas station and auto shop. It's now been refurbished and sits in the pizza joint that occupies the old shop. Hard to believe the price is $.25 per gallon!

This is a light fixture hanging in Atlanta's Vortex Bar & Grill. The Vortex is a really good burger joint in Midtown, with another location in Little Five Points. It's a bit rough on the edges (i.e. closer to a dive bar), but the food is great and the atmosphere is lots of fun!

Time for Doughnuts

This old Krispy Kreme on Ponce De Leon in Midtown still has the fun, old neon sign. It looks neat at night, but not so much on a sunny day. The cloudy sky certainly helped me here. I'm happy I was able to get a decent shot during the day.

Flip This!

Flip is the latest endeavor of Atlanta's own Top Chef, Richard Blais. The menu consists of funky burgers (which all sound yummy) and molecular milkshakes at the liquid-nitrogen milkshake bar. Seriously . . . take a second to peruse the milkshakes they have: Nutella & Burnt Marshmallow, Krispy Kreme, Pistachio & White Truffle, and finally a foie gras milkshake! Yum!

The Friendly Skeleton

Talk about signage! This is the sign at the entrance to the Lumberyard Lofts in the West End of town. The sign is for Bone Garden Cantina, which is a new-ish Mexican spot. Great prickly-pear margaritas, perfectly fresh salsa, and pretty good tacos, too!

An Institution

This is the Varsity. This particular location, on North Avenue in Midtown, is home to the World's Largest Drive-in. The Varsity's specialty is hot dogs. The midtown location and the Athens location are both insanely busy on Georgia Tech and Univ. of Georgia game days. Generally, you'll find as many local folks eating here as you will tourists.

Neuvo Lareda Cantina

Nuevo Lareda Cantina is one of, if not THE, best Mexican restaurant in the Metro Atlanta area. Their lobster tacos are amazing! Eh, the have pretty good margaritas, too! :) The crowd here is always out of control. Nearly every night during good weather there is a slew of people waiting outside on the patio for a table. They often spill out into the parking lot!
